Sorry there was no post last weekend.  This weeks post should be up soon and is likely to be about the false dichotomy between anonymity and transparency.  Otherwise there are further posts on vegetarianism, utilitarianism and corruption as a universal sociological/biological law.

Break

The gap in posts will end next week.  I am mulling many ideas concerning vegetarianism.  In addition there will be several posts on the topic of arguments for the supernatural.

Apologies for the gap in posting.  There will be a post up tomorrow and thence forth once weekly for the next few months (at least).

Just to say that there will be no proper blog post this week.  But be reassured I will be posting again next weekend.  It'll be another from the progress series examining the belief in progress from various angles.  In addition I currently mulling possible posts on the following topics: nature, nuture, embryology and society; cloning minds and morality &; the value comparitive value of minds (vegetarianism).

You can always browse the backlog of posts you haven't read yet (I suspect few people have read all 60 odd  posts).

There will be a short break for roughly a week from posting due to work pressure.  On the horizon I have post ideas for faith schools, categorizing people in society, abuses of logic (shown up by complexity theory) and more...

Things are very hectic right now so there will be a short break.  I shall probably post again towards the end of the coming week orthe beginning of the next.

There will be a short break from blogging.  I expect to be posting regularly again in under a week. In the mean time here are a few questions for the reader:

1) Does history as a whole show a positive moral trend? If you think of the question on the time scale of billions of years does your answer change?

2) If intelligence cannot be measured on a linear scale what might a better measure be?

3) When it is actually the case that explaining something diminishes its beauty?

4) What future technology now within our grasp is likely to have the biggest impact on societies?

5) Without the crutch of age to guide us how would we decide when children have sufficient understanding of the world and a great enough sense of responsibility to be given the right to make decisions for themselves?
